Making it easy for homeowners to reap the financial benefits of short-term rentals is a team effort that homeowner Don Rumpel notices. Don and his wife Victoria Swires purchased in White Spruce Lodge after years of visiting Canmore from Calgary.
They also recently acquired a second unit in The Tamarack.
“From our perspective as owners, I really get the sense that they treat us as family,” says Don. “The front office are always so friendly and helpful. They’re always available; the office is just down the street from our particular unit, and it’s very appealing for a lot of people to know they’re not just getting the keys and access to a unit. They really are here 24/7.”
Don notices this connection within the team everywhere from management to the cleaning staff who stop to say hello in the hallway.
And as the owner of several rental properties that he and his wife manage themselves, Don knows “full well the amount of work it takes,” which makes the hands-off service at Spring Creek Vacations for short-term rentals all the more appealing.
Using the online booking calendar to plan dates, Don and Victoria get out to enjoy their unit on a monthly basis. They can book in advance to block off special weekends or holidays, with no black-out windows. Their grown children often join in.
“Our kids practically grew up here hiking, camping, and skiing, so Canmore has always been our second home,” Don says. For him, the pull to Canmore is about “the mountain lifestyle and a deep sense of community that you can’t experience in a big city.”
